Electric is ecological and economical

The Swiss are world champions in the utilisation of renewable energies for the power supply of the completely electrified rail network: 75% of the required energy comes from hydroelectric power stations in the Alps and along the rivers.

On descent, the modern electric locomotives function as generators: during electrical braking of the traction motor, they feed electricity back into the railway grid. Contact lines in Switzerland are subjected to extreme climatic changes. They prove themselves by wind, snow and ice.

The renaissance of electric trams – above all in the UNO city of Geneva – leads to dynamic developments of this means of public transport that up to now has been dealt with under its value.

In Swiss guided transport
energy economy rhymes with energy ecology.
