Ballast cleaner

The ballast cleaning and screening machines offer a simple, compact, fast and efficient concept for ballast treatment on a renewal site. The process consists of several steps: removal of ballast by a stripping chain, screening, removal of waste and out-of-tolerance ballast, and re-tracking of the correct ballast.

Measurement and Guidance
A combination of relative-based measurement and computer-assisted guidance (CATT) allows the user to make a quality recopy of the track layout, while minimizing subsequent tamping corrections. The user has the option of entering a new lane alignment in the CATT or manually adapting the guidance instructions via the measurement HMI.
Ballast management
The main conveyor belt conveys the ballast between the excavation unit and the screen. A first segregation of the ballast is carried out when it is conveyed to the screen. The segregated ballast is then distributed to the screen. A combination of the 3 decks, the useful surface, the amplitude and the free oscillation frequency means that the screen guarantees excellent screening at a throughput of 750 m3/h.
Horizontalisation of wagons
100% of the useful surface of the screen and conveyors are granite thanks to the hydraulic horizontalisation device. This function keeps the working parts, such as the screen and ballast conveyors, in a horizontal position regardless of the inclination on which the screener is working.
Excavation unit
The design of the excavation unit makes it possible to excavate ballast in any site condition and track geometry without any major stress on the excavation unit.
Human Machine Interface
The sound-proofed, pressurised work cabin offers the operator safety against external interference. The work cabin is mounted on four air suspension systems and is not affected by external vibrations. From his workstation the operator has an excellent view of the lifting clamp. The camera surveillance allows him to visualize the excavation unit and the upper deck of the screen. The layout of the control panels allows the operator to manage the functions of the machine without major effort.
