The end faces, as well as the surfaces above and below the rail, where the electrode of the welding machine meets, are cleaned of rust and scale by brushing before the welding process. This enables an optimal current flow of electrodes and the bare rail end faces can be joined correctly in the butt welding process.

Unmanned, the system operates in automatic mode and regulates and controls the brushing process autonomously.
