SMA is an independent consulting and software company for railway systems. Established in Zurich in 1987, the SMA Group employs approximately 85 members of staff. In addition to its headquarters in Zurich, SMA also has sites in Lausanne, Frankfurt and Paris.
In consulting, our portfolio is made up of six business segments Service offer, Production, Operations, Capacity, Demand and Franchises and Tenders.
In the software area, the focus is on software services and the Viriato and ZLR software systems, which support all aspects of railway system planning. 
SMA works for Train operators, Infrastructure Managers, Public authorities and Rolling stock manufacturers.
